On April 22, 2026, a delegation from the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) visited the School of Integrated Circuits at Southeast University. The two sides held in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, educational cooperation, and industrial collaboration. Professor Sun Weifeng, Dean of the School of Integrated Circuits; Zhu Chao, Assistant to he Dean; and Ma Zhimiao, a faculty member from the Overseas Education College, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, both parties thoroughly explored the possibility for ASEM students to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees at Southeast University. They agreed to establish a systematic talent development framework centered on integrated circuit (IC) design, covering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, thereby promoting deeper integration between higher education and high-tech industries in China and Malaysia. Both sides concurred that joint student training, faculty development programs, collaborative research, academic conferences, and project-based cooperation would facilitate knowledge sharing and academic advancement in the IC field between the two institutions.

The discussions also covered practical cooperation pathways, including setting up a branch campus in Malaysia, offering localized training courses, and advancing preparatory education programs with Chinese-taught modules. They proposed streamlining the admissions process for Malaysian students by optimizing the CICA examination, online applications, and supervisor interviews, thus creating a convenient pathway for further study. Recognizing Malaysian students' solid foundation in Chinese, strong English proficiency, and high self-discipline in learning, the two sides recommended that Southeast University grant them priority admission and specialized training support, aiming to establish a model for China-Malaysia international education cooperation.

This exchange marks a significant breakthrough in collaboration between Southeast University and Malaysia in IC talent cultivation and lays a solid foundation for future cooperation in related fields.
